Tortola (BVI)
Tortola est la plus grande île des îles Vierges britanniques (BVI), sa « capitale », et possède l’aéroport principal. Avec une grande sélection de bars, restaurants et magasins ainsi que quelques-unes des plus belles plages, Tortola en a pour tous les goûts : les sons reggae de Quito Rhymer de Cane Garden Bay, les vagues sur la plage de Josias, la randonnée en montagne (Sage), le shopping dans les petites boutiques de Soper’s Hole et de Road Town.
Quelques minutes après votre départ, vous vous trouverez dans une abondance d’ancrages calmes et protégés, de sable blanc, de plages bordées de palmiers et d’eaux cristallines dans lesquelles vivent de beaux poissons coralliens, tropicaux et colorés.
Nos plongées et snorkeling sont classés parmi les meilleurs au monde avec plus de soixante sites de plongée. D’innombrables récifs vierges restent inexplorés et vous trouverez une grande variété de paysages sous-marins en explorant les parois verticales, les pinacles sous-marins, les récifs coralliens, les grottes et épaves – notamment le Rhône RMS qui a coulé en 1867.

Jour 1
THE INDIANS
Après une courte traversée dans le canal Sir Francis Drake, vous arriverez à «The Indians», un parc national, l’endroit idéal pour profiter de votre première plongée ou snorkeling autour de ses quatre magnifiques clochetons. En eau peu profonde, c’est une bonne introduction au monde sous-marin !
NORMAN ISLAND
Ensuite, après une courte distance, vous découvrirez Norman Island, réputée pour être le site du célèbre roman de Robert Louis Stevenson, «Treasure Island». Là, vous pouvez regarder un coucher de soleil spectaculaire des Caraïbes ! Visitez soit «The Pirate’s Bight» à terre soit le restaurant-bar flottant, le « William Thornton ». Vous pouvez également suivre le sentier derrière «Pirates» et marcher jusqu’au sommet de l’île pour une vue fantastique.
Si vous cherchez un endroit plus calme et retiré pour passer la nuit, Benures Bay est un beau mouillage, avec une belle promenade sur la colline de la très privée Money Bay où vous trouverez un bon site de plongée et de snorkeling juste devant l’entrée de la baie. Privateers Bay et Soldier Bay sont aussi deux autres options d’amarrage.
Jour 2
THE CAVES
Après le petit déjeuner, faites du dinghy sur le site « The Caves ». Amarrez-vous à une bouée du Parc National et profitez des merveilles de la barrière de corail et ses habitants colorés. Allez ensuite à l’Épave du Rhône (coulée en 1867) pour une plongée ou du snorkeling matinal(e).
COOPER ISLAND
Allez à Cooper Island en début d’après midi et prenez un amarrage de nuit. Allez en dinghy à Cistern Point si vous voulez continuer le snorkeling ou alors allez simplement vous détendre à la plage ou au bar du Cooper Island Beach Club. Il ya un magasin de plongée où vous pouvez remplir les réservoirs d’essence.
Afin de protéger la beauté et la diversité de nos récifs coralliens, poser l’ancre est interdit sur les sites du Parc National, il faut donc toujours chercher une bouée. S’il vous plaît, évitez de pêcher ou de nourrir les poissons dans les parcs car cela perturberait leur écosystème !
Jour 3
THE BATHS
Très tôt le matin, prenez le canal Sir Francis Drake Channel et allez à «The Baths» à l’extrémité sud de Virgin Gorda. Amarrez-vous et faites du snorkeling jusqu’à la plage. Vous pouvez passer la journée à explorer les tunnels, les grottes et les piscines d’eau cristalline dans les dédales de rochers massifs qui reposent ici depuis des millions d’années. Ils représentent pour certaines personnes la huitième merveille du monde !
MARINA CAY
En début d’après midi, vous pouvez reprendre le canal pour atteindre Marina et y faire du snorkeling en fin d’après midi et un barbecue en soirée. Pour ceux qui souhaitent faire un peu de shopping, vous pouvez passer la nuit à Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, un luxueux port de plaisance appartenant au célèbre Little Dix Bay Resort (recharge de bouteille de plongée ici).
Jour 4
VIRGIN GORDA
A North Sound, Virgin Gorda (troisième plus grande île des Iles Vierges), tout le monde trouve son compte : pour du snorkeling et plongée, il faut s’arrêter à Mountain Point. Pour la paix et la tranquillité, il faut aller à Drake’s Anchorage, d’où vous pouvez aller à terre dans la soirée et marcher sur la colline pour regarder le coucher de soleil depuis Honeymoon Beach. Si vous voulez du divertissement, Bitter End Yacht Club et Saba Rock offrent de la musique la plupart des soirs.Visitez les boutiques, louez un Hobie Cat, apprenez la planche à voile, vous n’aurez que l’embarras du choix ! A Leverick Bay, vous avez un SPA et aussi un grand magasin (recharges essence et provisions). Biras Creek est un endroit merveilleux pour un cocktail et de longues promenades, et cherchez les iguanes ! Vous pouvez faire du canoë à travers Saba Rock pour voir certaines tortues taches sur le récif. Si vous avez du temps, passez quelques jours ici, cela vaut la peine!
Jour 5
ANEGADA
Les navigateurs expérimentés peuvent naviguer à Anegada. Située approximativement à 12 miles de Gorda Sound et entourée par la troisième plus grande barrière de corail du monde, Anegada est une destination idyllique ! Bordée par des plages étendues de sable blanc, l’île est célèbre pour son homard frais, son snorkeling merveilleux et pour avoir les meilleures langoustes des Iles Vierges. Restez là au moins 2-3 nuits pour découvrir pleinement cette île magique.
THE DOGS
Sinon, naviguez vers le sud jusqu’à « The Dogs » pour faire de la plongée et du snorkeling : il ya un tunnel à traverser et même l’épave d’un petit avion à découvrir. Passez la nuit à Trellis Bay, sur une ligne de mouillage. Profitez du restaurant-bar « Last Resort » où le chef chante la plupart des nuits, du snorkeling et des hamacs sur la plage de Loose Mongoose restaurant. Si vous souhaitez rattraper votre retard sur vos e-mails ou apprendre la planche à voile, le Trellis Bay Cyber Café offre un accès Internet et l’enseignement de planche à voile ainsi qu’un menu délicieux et très abordable.
Jour 6
GUANA ISLAND
Continuez vers l’ouest (vent arrière), en vous arrêtant pour un snorkeling à Monkey Point, Guana Island ; jetez ancre au large de l’un des déserts de sable blanc, plages bordées de palmiers sur la côte nord de Tortola. White Bay est également très agréable pour un arrêt-déjeuner.
SANDY CAY
Visitez l’île déserte, très belle : Sandy Cay. Faites-y d’inoubliables promenades dans le parc protégé jusqu’aux bains-jacuzzi naturels , face à des orchidées sauvages.
JOST VAN DYKE
Allez, l’après-midi, à Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke. L’île est réputée pour son atmosphère détendue et possède quelques-uns des meilleurs bars de plage des îles Vierges. Pour ceux qui cherchent à se dégourdir les jambes, vous pouvez marcher de Diamond Cay à Bubbly Pool et barboter dans la piscine naturelle à vagues. Prenez un verre avec Foxy à son fameux bar sur la plage et dînez de homard fraîchement pêché à Sidney’s Peace and Love.
White Bay a une belle plage de sable blanc et à Soggy Dollar Bar, expérimentez un Painkiller (antidouleur !), une spécialité de l’île à base de rhum !
Little Harbour a les meilleurs poissons frais et homards ainsi que des balles d’amarrage.
GREEN CAY
Green Cay est une autre île déserte, paradisiaque pour du snorkeling et un endroit tranquille pour passer une soirée romantique !
Jour 7
TORTOLA
Allez à Cane Garden Bay et passez l’après-midi sur la plage. Quito, un musicien de reggae célèbre joue dans son bar le jeudi soir et il existe de nombreux autres bars le long de la belle et longue plage : on est assuré d’avoir de la musique live!
Jour 8
PETER ISLAND
Naviguez vers le sud vers Soper’s hole pour vous réapprovisionner à la marina, et naviguez jusqu’à Deadman’s Bay, Peter Island. Détendez-vous sur le sable blanc pendant un certain temps avant de grimper jusqu’à la piste pour voir les îles d’en haut.
Le côté sud de l’île est également un magnifique arrêt, avec de superbes criques pour du snorkeling et des plages de sable blanc. Jetez l’ancre à White Bay, faites du dinghy autour de toutes les petites criques et mangez un barbecue privé sur la plage. N’y passez pas la nuit : l’exploitation n’est pas grande et la houle peut parfois être inconfortable.
JOST VAN DYKE
Cap vers Little Harbour ou Great Harbour pour une nuit sous les étoiles. Le resort a une petite marina où vous pouvez passer la nuit et vous offrir un dîner des plus luxueux (mais il y a un code vestimentaire : pas de shorts ni de baskets / tongs ni de colliers pour les hommes).
Jour 9
Après le petit déjeuner, vous avez le temps pour du snorkeling (pas de plongée avant de voler) à Little Harbour et Great Harbour. Traversez le canal jusqu’à BVI Yacht Charters à Joma Marina, Road Town avant midi. Appelez-nous avant votre arrivée pour vérifier votre numéro de coupon et un taxi vous attendra pendant que vous faites le plein et l’état des lieux.

TORTOLA
The largest island in the BVI, Tortola is home to the capital Road Town, as well as the main airport. With a large selection of bars, restaurants and shops together with some of the most beautiful beaches Tortola has something for everyone. Highlights include listening to the great reggae sounds of Quito Rhymer in Cane Garden Bay, catching waves at Josiah’s Beach, hiking in Sage Mountain and shopping in the small boutiques in Soper’s Hole and on Main Street, Road Town.
Just minutes after casting off you will find yourself cruising in an abundance of quiet and protected anchorages, white sands, palm fringed beaches and crystal clear waters alive with beautiful coral and colorful tropical fish.
Our diving and snorkeling is rated among the best in the world with over sixty dive sites charted, many of which are within a recently established underwater National Park System. Innumerable virgin reefs remain unexplored and you will find a wide variety of underwater landscapes from vertical walls, underwater pinnacles, coral reefs, caverns and wrecks – most notably the RMS Rhone which sank in 1867.

Day 1
THE INDIANS
After a short reach across the Sir Francis Drake Channel you will arrive at ‘The Indians’, a National Park Area, and the perfect spot to enjoy your first snorkel or dive as you swim around its four magnificent pinnacles. It’s a nice, shallow dive or snorkel, so a great introduction to the underwater world if it’s your first time!
NORMAN ISLAND
Afterwards it’s only a short motor across to Norman Island, rumoured to be the site of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel, ‘Treasure Island’. There, you can watch a spectacular Caribbean sunset while enjoying a sundowner! Visit either ‘The Pirate’s Bight’ ashore or the floating bar/restaurant, the ‘William Thornton’. Both serve great food and are fun party spots for celebrating your well-earned vacation! You can also follow the trail behind ‘Pirates’ and walk up to the top of the island for fantastic views.
If you are looking for a quieter more secluded spot to spend the night, Benures Bay is a beautiful anchorage, with a lovely walk over the hill to the very private MONEY BAY, where you will find good snorkeling and a great dive site just outside the entrance to the bay. Also both Privateers Bay and Soldier Bay have moorings and offer another peaceful option.
Day 2
THE CAVES
After breakfast take your dinghy around the corner to ‘The Caves’. Pick up a National Park mooring buoy and enjoy the wonders of the coral reef and its colorful inhabitants. Sail to The Wreck of The Rhone (sunk in 1867) for a stunning morning dive or snorkel.
COOPER ISLAND
Tack up to Cooper Island early afternoon and pick up an overnight mooring. Take the dinghy to Cistern Point for more snorkeling or simply relax on the beach or by the bar at the Cooper Island Beach Club. There is a dive shop where you can refill tanks.
To protect the beauty and diversity of our coral reefs there is a “No Anchoring” policy at the National Park Sites, so always pick up a buoy. Please don’t be tempted to fish or feed the fish in the parks as this will disturb their fragile ecosystem!
Day 3
THE BATHS
Get an early start and tack up the Sir Francis Drake Channel to ‘The Baths’ on the Southern end of Virgin Gorda. Pick up a National Park mooring and snorkel into the beach. You can spend the whole day exploring the tunnels, caves and crystal clear pools through the maze of massive boulders, which have been resting here for literally millions of years. Some people call these the eighth wonder of the world!
MARINA CAY
In the early afternoon you can back across the channel to the beautiful Marina Cay for a late afternoon snorkel and evening BBQ. For those who wish to do a little shopping, you can spend the night at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, a luxurious marina owned by the famous Little Dix Bay Resort (dive tank refills here).
Day 4
VIRGIN GORDA
Off to North Sound,Virgin Gorda, where you will find a little something for everyone. Supposedly named ‘The Fat Virgin’ by Christopher Columbus, Virgin Gorda is the third largest island in the BVI. For great snorkeling and diving, stop at Mountain Point. For peace and tranquility choose Drake’s Anchorage, from where you can go ashore in the evening and walk over the hill to watch the sunset from Honeymoon Beach. If you want entertainment, Bitter End Yacht Club and Saba Rock offer music most evenings. Visit the shops, rent a Hobie Cat, learn to windsurf; you will be spoilt for choice! Leverick Bay has a Beauty and Massage Parlour, and also a great store (tank refills and provisions). Biras Creek is a wonderful place for a cocktail and long walks, and look out for the iguanas! You can dinghy through past Saba Rock for some turtle spotting at the reef. If you have more time, spend a couple of days here; it is well worth it!
Day 5
ANEGADA
The experienced sailors among you may want to sail to Anagada. Located approximately 12 miles north of Gorda Sound and surrounded by the world’s third largest coral reef, Anegada is the perfect destination for those wishing to simply relax! With miles of white sandy beaches, fantastic snorkelling off the north shore and the best fresh lobster in the BVI, Anegada is well worth the sail! Stay at least 2-3 nights to explore this magical island fully.
THE DOGS
Otherwise, sail south to ‘The Dogs’ for wonderful snorkeling and diving. There is a tunnel to swim through and even the wreck of a small plane to explore if you have Scuba. Spend the night at Trellis Bay on a mooring. A fun anchorage, home to the Last Resort restaurant and bar offering live music with the ‘Singing Chef’ most nights, or good snorkeling and hammocks on the beach by De Loose Mongoose restaurant. If you wish to catch up on your emails or learn to windsurf then the Trellis Bay Cyber Café offers internet access and windsurf instruction, together with a delicious and very affordable menu.
Day 6
GUANA ISLAND
Continue west (downwind), stopping for a morning snorkel at Monkey Point; anchor off any of the deserted white sand, palm fringed beaches on the North Coast of Tortola. White Bay is also lovely for a lunch stop.
SANDY CAY
Visit the beautiful classic desert island, Sandy Cay. Walk through the protected park to the natural jacuzzi baths, looking out for wild orchids.
JOST VAN DYKE
In the afternoon motor over to Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke. Jost is well known for its relaxed laid back atmosphere with some of the best beach bars in the BVI. For those looking to stretch their legs then you can walk from Diamond Cay to the Bubbly pool and splash about in the natural wave pool. Have a drink with Foxy at his famous bar on the beach and dinner of freshly caught lobster at Sidney’s Peace and Love.
White Bay has a beautiful white sandy beach and at the Soggy Dollar Bar is a blast (no dinghy dock, hence the name!), you can experience a Painkiller – a rum based island speciality!
Little Harbour has the best local fresh fish and lobster and the benefit of mooring balls.
GREEN CAY
Green Cay is another classical desert island, with great snorkeling and a quiet spot to spend a romantic evening!
Day 7
TORTOLA
Head over to Cane Garden Bay and spend the afternoon on the beach. Quito, a famous reggae musician plays in his bar on Thursday nights and there are numerous other bars along the beautiful long beach – one is guaranteed to have live music!
Day 8
PETER ISLAND
Sail south through the cut at Soper’s Hole, stopping for more provisions and water at the marina, and sail up to Deadman’s Bay à Peter Island. Lounge on the white sand for a while before climbing the trail up to view the islands from above.
The South side of Peter Island is also a fabulous day stop, with great coves with amazing snorkeling, white sand beaches. Anchor at White Bay and dinghy around all the smaller coves, have a private BBQ on the beach, collect shells and hang easy. Don’t be tempted to stay the night as the holding is not great and the swells can sometimes make it uncomfortable.
JOST VAN DYKE
Motor round to Little Harbour or Great Harbour for a night under the stars. The resort has a small marina where you can stay the night and treat yourselves to a truly luxurious dinner, but there is a dress code (no shorts or training shoes/flip flops and collars for the men).
Day 9
After breakfast you have time to squeeze in one more snorkel (no diving before flying), both Little Harbour and Great Harbour have beautiful reefs and colorful tropical fish. Sail across the channel to BVI Yacht Charters at Joma Marina, Road Town by noon. Give us a call before you arrive to check your slip number and we will have a taxi waiting after you have refueled at our fuel dock and checked the boat out with someone on the dock.
